Hey what’s up I’m Tommy “Teebs” Pico—indigenous (Kumeyaay) American poet turned TV writer, and I found myself in a bit of a predicament in 2023. The WGA and SAG/AFTRA were on strike, it was the hottest summer in the Earth’s recorded history (lolsob), and after I got off the picket line everyday I had this yawing existential… “disquietude” let’s call it… and I had to fill the hole with something that wasn’t just hole-filling for the sake of filling the hole if you know what I mean. So I started to “make” “art.”
Or rather, I started melting and mixing different kinds of wax (soy/coconut candles and chips, wax seals, crayons etc), India ink, watercolor, acrylic, and even food dye on different types of art board. I started to develop this weird technique and daily practice, I asked for friends to give me their favorite colors to work with, and eventually bodied a body of work. I named each “piece” after friends and family, and upon gazing at the spoils of my horny I mean thorny “disquietude,” decided to make prints and sell them to you!
